Review

Crest is one of the leading producers of dental products, which must have convinced them that it was a good idea to create a line of electric toothbrushes.  Judging from their model, the Crest Spinbrush Pro, it was probably not a very well thought out idea.  Although the brush does work just fine when it's new, it is certainly not built to last for very long.  In fact, the Crest Spinbrush often feels more like a disposable manual toothbrush than an electric toothbrush.

The Crest Spinbrush is a lot different than every other electric toothbrush on the market.  For starters, it's a lot less powerful. That's not to say, however, that it doesn't clean teeth well.  When operated correctly, the spinning bristles are effective in warding off plaque and preventing cavities.  It even has a thin head that makes it easier to brush difficult to reach teeth.  Still, if you are looking for power, this should not be your model of electric toothbrush.

Another big difference between the Spinbrush and other models is that this one does not use rechargeable batteries.  Instead, in runs on 2 AA batteries, which are conveniently included in the package.  However, if you are fortunate to have your Spinbrush run long enough that it needs new batteries, replacing them can be quite a challenge.  The compartment needs a lot of force to be opened, and this can cause the accidental side effect of damaging the case.  Another problem with the batteries is that it's easy for water to get into the compartment and destroy the electric toothbrush.  It's surprising that Crest would make a brush that is so prone to water damage.

Most electric toothbrush models have at least a few extra features, but the Spinbrush doesn't have any.  But then again, at such a low price that's to be expected.  And indeed, one undeniable advantage about the Crest Spinbrush is the very low price.  Currently, there are no cheaper electric toothbrushes available.  So if you manage to keep yours working for several months, you're actually getting a pretty decent value.  And if you are lucky enough and your Crest Spinbrush keeps working, realize you should buy a replacement brush head after 3 or 4 months.
